Bocce Classic Chairmen

The Bocce Godfathers Pat Mosconi, Michael J. Longo, Ed "Boom-Boom" Guerriero.

Since its inception, The Bocce Classic has been run by men who have had the vision to promote the game of Bocce and who enjoy the fellowship of competition. The founders of the Bocce Classic, Michael J. Longo, Pat Mosconi and Ed Guerriero ran the classic as a tournament with proceeds benefiting the Sons of Italy.

Ed Guerriero became chairman for one year after Pat Mosconi retired. Dick Bloom took over the following year and incorporated the charity initiative and dinner partners. Carrabba's and Outback Steak house have donated their food and service to the club which in turn has donated all of the monies earn from the sale of dinner tickets plus a donation from the proceeds of the tournament to charity.

Charities that have benefited from the Bocce Classic are URS of Dayton, Womanline of Dayton, Hannah's Treasure Chest, Fisher Houses, Knights of Columbus, We Care Arts, The House of Bread and Ronald McDonald House. Under Dick, the Bocce Classic expanded internationally with the inclusion of Canadian teams.

Kevin Sorice became the current Bocce Chairman in 2007. Opening ceremonies now include flag presentations, national anthems of the United States and Canada and in 2008, the winners of the first Bocce Classic Scholarship were recognized.

In 2009, Brio Tuscan Grill and CultureWorks have partnered with the Bocce Classic replacing Carrabba's and Ronald McDonald House. We are looking forward to working with you new sponsors and charities and creating a blueprint for successful charitable fundraising.

Looking to the future, the Bocce Classic is working towards creating a true National Championship with the United States Bocce Federation and The World Cup of Bocce championship.
